I was wondering if anyone here was using the Mighty Mouse on their iBook, and if there is enough cord slack to use it from the right side of the laptop. The cord seemed a bit short when I saw it in the store.

Not sure about mightymouse. I had two and both had track ball problems. Both stopped scrolling down (no clicking sound when I try to scroll down either)

I use a Mighty Mouse with my iBook. I wouldn't mind another 6-12" of cord length, but it's usable. I've had no problems in regards to performance.

I got a new mouse from the local apple store, after they tested my mouse's trackball for 15 minutes.

The simple solution to this problem is to take a wet paper towel and clean the trackball by rubbing it in couple of different directions. Worked for me and this is Apple's suggestion in their knowledgebase.

I've "fixed" several "broken" mighty mouses around the office with this technique. It's amazing how short memories are. Don't people remember cleaning trackballs on their pre-optical mice? Same thing here ... the dirt and grime gets on the rubber ball and it skips. Just clean it and it will work fine.
