If you're not a cat person, this won't interest you much.
I've got a Bengal, which is a cross between an Asian leopard cat and a domestic cat, and can only imagine what it must be like to have one of these. Quite beautiful, but a little out of my price range.
The cats - which can cost from $4,000 to $10,000 - are visually striking with their long necks and oversized ears, and they can be intimidating. They look like little leopards and grow to more than twice the size of normal cats. They love to leap and splash in water, and they don't mind taking long walks on a leash. Some people describe them as dogs in cats' bodies.

$4,000 - $10,000 is not that expensive for a pet, considering that somebody will have it for many, many years. (Unless it gets runover by a car or something).

Probably depends on how many generations they are removed from the original. Bengals sold as housecats, for instance, are normally 4 generations removed from the original cat, and mine (4 generations removed) is the biggest baby I have ever known. Doesn't even know what to do with a bug after he's cornered it. I wold assume the same holds true for these, in terms of temperament.

I'd like to get one.
I hope they're legal in California. I looked 'em up on Google and Craig's List. If I ever got one, I'd be so worried as to how the kittens got here. Were they imported or born and raised? What were the conditions they were raised in? The black market for exotic pets is disgusting.

Very cool! I was considering a Serval, which is less than half the cost of the Savannahs. I don't know why the wild cat is so much cheaper than a cross breed.
You need to be dedicated to own a pet like these, but the Serval is a very loving and attached pet.

There are lots of reputable breeders that have them. You will be scrutinized to see if you qualify. Good breeders are picky about who they sell to. If the breeder doesn't ask you more questions than a prospective mother-in-law, you might want to keep looking.
Like I said in the last post, I was serious about pulling the trigger on a Serval, but we decided to not do it, at least at this time. I found a number of breeders and talked to them at length. All were concerned about their prospective new homes. That is what you want.
You also need to understand the special care these pets take.
