Anyone catch the ad for Citibank credit cards which is really an iPod commercial in disguise? It has a female jogger being accompanied by her husband in his car.

Plenty of free advertising

It seems that Apple still isn't' listening. Cool ad.

Heh. I reencoded it to H.264 here, from the original MPEG4 ad (6.95 MB). The reencoded version is 3.2 MB.

ok. so i like the commercial.
but not any more than i've liked any of the other ones.
i think they're all great commercials, but when is apple going to come out with a new style? i kind of think the sillohete thing is wearing itself out.
but maybe i'm the only one?

The commercial is cute. Dancing on rollerskates is NOT easy, and those folks made it look easier than walking barefoot. And the song sounded familiar-is it really an old song, or what?

Anyway, the commercial doesn't increase my desire to buy an iPod-that's already pretty high. But it does make me want to find a nearby skating rink...

I actually don't like this one... if they'd done it in roller blades (though you can't dance as well in those) I'd have liked it better... I dono roller skates just seem sooo... 80s... not to mention what is it with the silhouette adds and chicks with afros?

No you dolt, the company is starting a promotion where they give away iPods to new card holders.
The entire commercial revolves around the giveaway.

Roller skates are back in. They have the trendy retro look. I'm not saying people will trade in blades for skates as a form of exercise, but I wouldn't be surprised to see people using skates at a rink.

Great, now I have the tune Malcom's dad skates to in Malcom in the Middle. Thanks.

The ad might have been better with Malcom's dad and that tune... (If the people at Chiat/Day are reading this. It was a joke! (but do it anyway, you know you want to.))

Watch it! I happen to actually remember roller-disco in the '70s. (I was not trendy enough to get involved with it, thankfully, but I remember it!)

I agree with Xeo about the "retro" bit. Yet another turn on the wheel of fads-and this time it's called "retro" instead of "nostalgia." Probably because if they called it nostalgia some drug firm would come up with a pill to fix it. Then there would be a commercial for the pill that didn't say what it did, but would probably feature a lot of people wearing iPods (who KNOWS what they'd be listening to!) just to show how trendy it is to take this pill. Oh the HUMANITY!

I wish Apple tried to sell their computers

EDIT: After watching that, I almost want to puke. Hands down the gayest commercial I've ever seen, coupled with the most retarded song ever. My land can't people even sign on key anymore?

Gayness and alternative/hip-hop makes you want to puke? Lovely.

I agree though Apple needs to push their computers much harder.

As far as rollerskates coming back in... sweet. Brings back some fond childhood memories

How in the world did you get the "hearing impaired" track for that commercial? And how can someone sign "off key?"

I honestly didn't think that the vocals in the song were off key. And if it's not a song you like, that's fine, just don't condemn the artists for doing something "badly" when they simply did something that's not your cup of tea.

I actually felt that the commercial was an interesting take on dance music...and I don't like most dance music.

^^ So I made a typo, sue me, and make sure to spell my name right.

And what makes your opinion any better than mine? Listen carefully as the initial vocals come in on the track, and if you can't hear that it is off-key, you're tone deaf.

I'll re-write my opinion: ***I*** feel that's one of the worst "songs" I have ever heard in my life. Someone with a completely horrible voice went bonkers with Garageband and is now making money off it...great.

You do realise its Damon Albarn, produced by Danger Mouse featuring De La Soul?

If you are half as talented as any one of these people, I'll be very impressed, and consider your opinion valid.

Danger Mouse wouldn't use Garageband, and if you had any kind of real appreciation for music, you would understand how talented of a producer he is. Don't judge music/talent and make silly assumptions about artists after hearing a 15 second clip of one song on a tv ad.

agreed.

the song is nice and so is dancing on roller skates, as long as it's not me.

everyone involved is great on their own, and great in the song.

the new Gorillaz animated shorts on the iTMS are freakin' cool too.

Technologic is a nifty song, the rest of his new album is quite depressing in quality compared to his last two though (Daft Punk)

i'm gettin into the new daft punk, only a few songs i dig right now. everything on the album sounds better loud.

walk down the street with your shades on and your shuffle playing 'Robot Rock' nice and loud.

you need to walk for at least 2 minutes to get the full 'Saturday Night Fever' effect.

I liked Technologic, but I have to say I'm getting tired of the (almost) total contrast images. It does seem old now, particularly since they're not holding the image out for complete contrast and letting a few things bleed through-like the shoes and the hat in the Pop-Lock ad.

Yet another bump.. while airing SNL.

Right after the first Coldplay's performance... there's an Apple TV ad, which featured Coldplay and iTunes.com at the end.
