It's a whieksy night, gents. Working from home is cool, xcept sometimes you get a bit buzzed and just keep going. Going to work til I drop tonight and sleep in tomorrow morning. This feels so much more normal than the 8-5 grind, every day...

Just finished a nice bottle myself. Remember that alcohol causes cancer just like cigarettes. This is disappointing.

Had a glass of Suntory the other night, maybe the Toki? Extremely smooth stuff, I need to get me a bottle.

I’ve been sipping on this stuff lately...

It’s a 12-year-old, sustainably-produced single-estate rum from Nicaragua. It’s bloody delicious. As complex as any whiskey I’ve had.

I had a bottle of Yamazaki once upon a time. Really lovely stuff. Its one of the cheapest Japanese ones but they have really embraced Scotch and they do it very, very well.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I’ve heard this. Never had Japanese hard liquor but I keep being told it is really top class.

Mostly a red wine guy now, but I always have a bottle of Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye in the freezer. It’s my go to for a fairly priced good liquor. Recently finished a bottle of Maker’s Mark 101 which is over twice as expensive to buy in Canada and it just wasn’t quite as good.

Rum is my usual vice, and I'm super gay for it. Mt Gay Rum specifically. I used to live near a liquor store that sold 1.75s for $20-22 or so, and oh man. It was glorious.

Goddamn, this is my alcohol nexus. Mount Gay was always my upgrade run pick, haha. They have one called the XO that is great.

True fact, I once got into an ill-advised but friendly shots duel with the bartender at the Mount Gay brewery in Barbados. It was a total wreck of a night and I was probably lucky not to die.

That sounds amazing.

I was down in the keys when I was 21 partying up and down duval st, wound up going to a karaoke bar with a trans person singing creedence, bought some illicit substances out of a VW minibus parked in the parking lot next to the police station, and at some point my buddy and I were racing shopping carts off the end of piers in the harbor.

Good times.

Japanese whiskey is good, really good. But even here in Japan, it is quite difficult to get a hold of the really good stuff, though. The shelves are stocked with Scottish, Irish and American whiskeys. But the good Japanese is hard to get a hold of. The best is supposedly Hibiki, but this is unicorn poop-rare stuff.

We live close to a whiskey brewery, and I went on a trip two-and-a-half years ago with my wife and my mother-in-law. We had a tour, a tasting and all that. We all left happy and quite tipsy.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
