Hey guys, i had ordered the 40 gig refurb from Apple last wednesday and it came on friday with regular free shipping! AWESOME! now for the bad parts: i opened up the box and it came without the dock or a usb cabled just the pod, earbuds, screens, and two firewire cables. I called Apple on Saturday and they had both the cable and the dock to me by tuesday but on also on Tuesday the Ipod gives me the sad ipod face and i can hear the drive and arm clicking inside. I called Apple again yesterday and they sent me the box this morning for me to shop it back. So bummed about this but i guess this is the chance we take buying refurbs. I had heard such great stories too about people buying refurbs and having good luck with them. Oh well, can anyone tell me how long it will take for them to get it back to me or has anyone else had any problems like this? I will be packing it up today and sending it out tomorrow morning.

Thanks,
Pandas

They're usually pretty quick about servicing iPods (I imagine you'll probably just be given a "new" one).

over here, it takes them 1 to 3 days to resolve the issue in the netherlands (+ 1 day shipping each way). usually a clicking HD means they'll just send you a new one. good luck!

molala,
Thanks for the response, lets hope you are right, I just ordered a USB enabled turntable so i could put all my old vinyl on my box, clean it up a bit then put some of it on my ipod. What did you have serviced on your ipod? I think i might have to send my powerbook in soon my 't' key is ultra sensitive and triple 't''s many words in a short email or post. its annoying! im kind of nervous tot be without it for a couple of days or even longer. Oh well.

i had the clicking HD issue 4 times on the 40GB iPod. they kept sending me brand new replacements... not sure why i had such bad luck. eventually they sent me a video iPod because i was still under warranty (applecare paid off).

for the powerbook, i would prefer to have it fixed locally if i were you, do you have an AppleStore nearby? maybe you just need a new keyboard that they could order in and install at the store.
