IMHO Super Mario World for the SNES. Super Mario Brothers 3 is a close second.

"Captive" on the Atari ST. Early FPS.

65,000+ levels. Took me two months just to get to level 20.

Awsome game. Perfect Dark was sweet too. It is too bad Rare had to go the way of the Microsoft.

I preferred the original Zelda for NES. FFVII was schweet. It was one of a few RPGs that I was addicted to. Another (say waht you will) was Pokemon. The last one was the Paper Mario for the Cube.

I just remembered my favorite game for the Mac. It was Escape Velocity (Ambrosia Software) for the Classic OS. It is a lot like Space Trader, the best game for the Palm platform, IMO. EV can still be bought, I think. I was at the web site recently and there are still people posting on the boards fo this game. If you have a PPC machine running classic natively or otherwise, you have to look that game up.

Shenmue. Not sure if it would go in the regular "video game" category, though. To me, it was more like an experience, and what I feel makes it special is not the story or any "scene" in particular, but rather the attention to detail and the freedom in this beautiful game world.

Apart from that I love the classics, including Galaga, Dig Dug and Pac Mac. My favorite "traditional" genre game for the Dreamcast must be Capcom vs. SNK.

Yep. I'd agree. I remember I played Shenmue, from beginning to end, over the course of three days. When I wasn't playing Shenmue, I was eating, going potty or sleeping for a couple of hours. While I consider myself a pretty hard-core gamer, there has been no other game that has had that effect on me.

Aside from Shenmue, I'd say Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker.

I forgot about RE4. I went through that game 5 times with my friends. I have the Gamecube version though. I still haven't seen Assignment Ada or the other set of costumes that is only in the PS2 version. I do have the Chicago Typewriter with infinite ammo and the infinite rocket launcher. My friend Nick is going to bring the PS2 version over when he actually remembers.

Wow, not a single mention of Super Mario 64... I loved that game. The 64 was a great system for platformer and adventure games - Mario, Banjo Kazooie, two good Zelda games.

The day I got my N64, my friend came over and played Mario for 4 hours straight without a break. I barely got to play it. I got really hacked off at him. Anyways, it really was a great game. I can't remember how many hours I played the thing. As a matter of fact, I'm wishing I had a copy right now.

I have heard quite a bit that Mario 64 was b@d@55. I have never had the distinct pleasure of playing that game. I watched a friend of mne play it once. I never had an N64.

Is that a Pac-Man clone?

I loved the original UT. When I was in class for computer repair we played that game quite a bit (that one and Battlefield 1942). That game is where i learned again my love for the minigun, in any game.
