When I copy an application in a mounted disk image to a folder on my harddrive, other than my desktop, the application's icon will get lost and turns into a generic application or an icon with a circle with a slash through it. It also does it if I drag the app to the Applications folder alias that comes in most disk images. The only way to keep the icon is to copy the app to the desktop first, then move it to another folder.

Anyone else have this issue? Anyone know of a fix? Thanks!

That happens with any newly downloaded app. Once you open the app for the first time, OS X will ask if you want to open it and then the icon gets set correctly.

Seriously, I've never seen this and I'm a network administrator of over 300 computers. So, I do a lot of downloading of apps.

Here it is with MPEG Streamclip as an example. I've attached a screenshot (I still can't figure out how to have inline images).

In any case, I can only make it appear when right-clicking the Applications folder in the dock. In a window, no matter what view, I get the actual icon.

I see now. That's a lot different than what you said earlier and not what the OP was talking about. Your original message implied it was in all cases when in actuality it's in this very specialized case. That seems more like a bug to me.
