yea, obviously quite a let down for us locals..

but yea, that's loyalty right there. to the POT!

on a side note, I was driving a little crazy one day around Las Olas (where Ricky lived at the time) and while making a turn I almost took off the front of his Range Rover. He didn't look too happy. kinda like Predator.

Don't care if he's a football player or the dogcatcher. Quitting your job to smoke pot = idiot.

I don't think it's that simple. From what I've read, he smokes pot for health reasons. The NFL, however, does not tolerate marijuana use for any reason.

I have been a fan of Ricky's since his college days. More power to him.

For some, cash IS NOT everything. The same goes for fame. Ricky has always been a shy guy who would often do interviews with his helmet on. I believe he was actually diagnosed with a mild case of 'shyness' ( I am not sure of the actual medical condition/term).

Like Robert Williams of the Vikings, Ricky just so happened to be really good at something, that he himself was not really as interested in (as opposed to other people). In this case, carry a football and run towards some painted grass for 6 points.

Sure I do not agree with what he did in letting his team down a week or so before training camp. That was not classy at all. He should of given them fair warning. However, I am not sure of that was possible, as I think even Ricky did not know that he was going to retire until it was really close to training camp.

O well...

Then again, it could have just been about GANGA...

Perhaps?

i'm pretty sure ricky williams can do whatever the hell he wants with his life and the fans and his teammates should just get over it. i also highly doubt smoking pot was the only reason. the guy was good at football, if i was good at a sport that i maybe didnt love playing, i'd just play for a few years, make some money and get out...thats my 2 cents...

Maybe he wants to be able to enjoy his retirement without the aid of artificial knees. Hell, If I had that kind of money, would I be sitting here at this desk? Um, no.

part of it was that he backed out of his contract. being a free spirit can conflict with prior obligations and responsibilities, often having costly consequences. and making you quite unpopular in your community.

and if he comes back, its all talk of trades anyhow, so who knows.
