22 degrees this morning in Sterling, VA. Just west of DC. Maybe a 'little snow' on Monday and Tuesday.

I've noticed a direct correlation between complaints about DST and proximity to an equinox.

I've also noticed a direct correlation between the lack of complaints about DST and proximity to a solstice.

Every spring I find there is first day when the sun comes out, the sky is blue and the air is conspicuously warmer than it was before. People go out without coats and jackets. They smile. For some reason life feels good and optimism rules the day.

It only happens for that one day each spring. After that there are other sunny days but not that first one.

Last Sunday was that day here. I spent the afternoon sat on a bench in Greenwich park watching the people enjoying the same day I was.

Until next year...

Its the SAME amount of sunlight, its just an hour later. (Of course I know we are gaining about 2-3 minutes of sunlight per day.) We are getting the same amount of sunlight as we do on Sept. 29

OK - if you want to be pedantic about it , I will gladly participate!

I am in the central time zone, and the sun now sets at 7:34 pm. Prior to the time change, sunset was at 6:34 pm.

I now have an extra hour of sunlight at the end of my day.

Just returned from a business trip to Mexico.

It was 85F with blue skies.
I asked the guys what that strange good feeling was.
They said it's called summer. It felt distantly familiar.
