If the US reduced its troops in Iraq and as a replacement let in some more european troops, the resistance wouldn't stop, and nothing would be changed regarding the losses of iraqi-civilian lifes, either through US-bombardments or terrorist-activities. But on top of that the US would have more free troops that can be used to liberate other anti-US-countries, and consequentially multiply the damage.

Absolutely and completely wrong. Countries that were for the war including the United States of America and the United Kingdom were involved in the OFFP. Like virtually any employee of any company, he had a non-compete clause in his employment contract which prevented him from working for any competitors for a specified period of time. Under Swiss law (and Switzerland is no different to many other jurisdictions), you have to give consideration for taking away someone's ability to ply his trade. Annan's son received the statutory minimum amount that you have to pay someone when you have a non-compete. That is the only link between the son and the Swiss company.
