I finally decided to try and switch from Entourage yesterday...I would really like Spotlight to work with my e-mail, and also to sync contacts and calendar with my iPod.

I got my mail transferred over without any problems. Then I discovered that my Palm categories for contacts, to-dos, and events didn't carry over into Address Book and iCal. I should have done a search here first Today, I'm back to Entourage.

Judging by the number of posts on the Apple discussions, many people are annoyed about this. However, I haven't heard any official response from Apple as to if/when this will be fixed. Anyone in the know?

Do you use iSync to sync your Palm-device ? Because then I think, that all of your data are copied from your Palm-device an into Address Book / iCal.

I don't know if you need iSync Palm Conduit to enable iSync to communicate with your Palm.

I use iCal and Address Book, and sync my Palm and phone using iSync.

I have the same problem. Anyone have good 3rd party software to fix this?

With Palm selling out I may just move to PocketPC anyway. Might just make this problem worse but oh well.

Yes, I use the iSync Palm conduit. The problem is that everything ends up in either Work or Home calendars in iCal--the iSync prefs don't allow you to map the Palm categories to separate calendars (or tasks, for that matter). Custom fields are also completely lost in Address Book.

after years of dealing with syncing (or trying to sync) my various palms with my macs...
i'm just glad it works (i use bluetooth & sync daily; t3 to a powerbook).

if i do abandon the palm, am glad everything is on my mac.
beyond that...good luck. seems neither company will update it's end to accomodate the other.
(but would be nice if apple expanded the capabilities of address book, and especially ical)...
