Here at work, I have a PowerMac G5 1.8GHz with 1GB of RAM. Although my co-workers all have the same machine... they do not have this problem I am having with mine.

For some reason my USB is very flaky. If I try to plug in anything with USB, it's completely unrecognized and won't work at all... However, if I restart the computer, the USB will work right away. I don't know why the USB ports break while the computer is idle... but, it seems like if it's plugged in, it will keep working once it's working once (like my keyboard and mouse always work, they're plugged in when my computer is turned on).

I wonder why restarting fixes it. It's the weirdest thing... any suggestions? It's quite annoying cause I wanna sync my iPod at work and I almost always have to restart to get it to be recognized by the computer.

Also, copying images or videos leaves hideous artifacts them. Maybe something's wrong with my logic board or something.

Have you considered bringing it to an Applestore to show someone at the genius
bar this behavior?

Sounds like hardware to me.

Thinking: could be video related but seems most likely logic board related.

Sounds like you upgraded your ram a little bit, could be a bad stick.

Are these ports the built-in ports or on a PCI card?
