So, i just got a Mac Pro-

specs:
Quad Core 2.66 Processor
6 gigs of RAM
ATI Radeon X1900XT Graphics Card
OS: Tiger . . .

I will be using Final Cut Studio 2 / After Effects A LOT on the machine.
I have heard some things that FCS-2 runs slower and doesn't perform as well in a general saying in Leopard.

Is this true? Has anyone had any personal experience with this? i would love to find out before i go out and buy the new Leopard OS- or if i should keep Tiger on it.

If it's a brand new Mac Pro, you're stuck with Leopard. Tiger won't boot the current Mac Pros.

But we already know it's not a brand new one, since it's a 2.66GHz with an X1900XT graphics card, neither of which is available on the new models, plus the OP stated that it's running Tiger now.

its asking if FCS2 works well in Leopard-
I currently have Tiger on my Mac-Pro. i was wondering if i upgraded to Leopard if FCS-2 runs well in the Leopard OS- I have been told that FCS-2 performs better in Tiger, than Leopard.

Holy crap people! I missed one line about it already having Tiger and sorry that I don't have the bundled video cards memorized for each iteration of the Mac Pro.

You could install Leopard on a different partition or a different hard drive, try it out and then switch back to Tiger if you're dissatisfied.

FCS 2 runs fine under Leopard. I use it daily with no problems.

Overall, Final Cut Studio 2 has been very stable on our Leopard systems here.

There is one problem that I can only duplicate on Leopard based systems using AJA Kona 3/LHe cards for I/O. The problem I kept having was with Unlimited RT enabled, live playback enabled for the video scopes, and External Video being routed through my Kona LHe, Final Cut would crash when playing through an unrendered Motion template. I read recently that AJA has finally released an update to their drivers, which I haven't had the opportunity to test. AJA Tech Support wasn't much help either.

My solution required a slight change in workflow, changing live scopes to monitor the Viewer instead of the Current Frame. Then once all my graphics were edited, I'd render the sequence, then retarget the scopes to Current Frame.

Other than that, Leopard works just fine.
I gotta have more cowbell.
