Powerbook Ti RAM into iMac 333 Strawberry

Could anyone tell me if the RAM from my Powerbook Ti 500 rev a will work in the iMac 333 tray loading model?
It's a 256mb module.
From the web the specs of the chips seem to be the same but I'm not so sure.

The only difference is that the Powerbook is PC100 and the iMac is PC66. I'm 99% positive that PC100 RAM can be installed in PC66 slots and run at the slower speed.
I know I have used PC133 RAM in a PC100 slot (though it wasn't SO-DIMM).
Hopefully someone can back me up on this.

I think it'll probably work, and if it doesn't, it most likely won't ruin your machine. I've put bad RAM in my computer before - it just didn't boot. Took it out, and it booted fine. So I don't think there's any harm in trying.

I can't see it damaging the iMac either. I say go for it!

Well, I tried it and it works!
The only thing is that a 256mb RAM chip shows up as 128mb, I guess that's what tRr meant as running at a slower speed.
Now I just need to figure how to get to the other RAM slot, I could only see 1 when I opened up the iMac...

I just read this on a website "The 256mb module requires use of at least firmware revision 1.2"
As I have just installed OS X.3 on the machine, is it too late to try and run a firmware update?
Is the firmware update part of the 10.3 install or would it have shown up on the Software Update as a download?

You have to be running OS 9 to install the firmware update. You can tell what version of the firmware you have by looking at the Boot ROM version in the Apple System Profiler.
BTW, this is a common problem with putting PC100 or PC133 modules in a PC66 slot.

So is it worth going into OS 9 and doing the firmware update if needed?
And is there a cure for the RAM issue to get the full mb from it? If not it's not critical but would be nice to get it all. Or is it just a bit of luck?
