Tiger Mail Problem

Mail is giving the following error message a short while after launching:




I keep moving stuff to an external and now the hard drive has 2.75gb free but the same message occurs. I have tried a restart and shut-down but didn't help. I use my main account as IMAP.
Any ideas?
