Installed no problem. I notice nothing visually new except for maybe a Show Closed Captioning option under View. Or was that there before?

Party Shuffle has a little popup box that lets you choose a playlist to shuffle from (or, of course, your entire library). I think that's new...?

Oh, and of course the new full-window movie viewing.

Soooo how do you install the ringtones?
A "Ringtones" tab shows up when I select my iPhone in iTunes but how do you buy the ringtones?
There's no section that I can find on the iTunes store...

maybe there's another update coming? hmm

WARNING: At the moment, iTunes 7.4 causes the iPhone not to see iToner ringtones. It doesn't seem to be an intentional lockout, and the Ambrosia folks say they're working on it, but I'd hold off on updating iTunes if you use iToner ringtones.

Maybe one day they'll iron out the oddities with sliders in the preferences; or iron out carbon. What I mean: Playback tab in prefs, slide one of the sliders and while dragging, move the mouse up and down a bit and watch the little tick marks dance.

I think he said it will "Otomatically" work. But yeah, it says that next week the ringtones will be unlocked.

First of all, too funny...

And second, thanks for the clarification. I even bought Don't Speak by No Doubt (which is featured on Apple's ringtone page) and was wondering why I couldn't get it to work...

Seems to be a layering issue with the text label underneath it. When you select the element you bring it to the front and all the ticks are the same length.

This still happens in Leopard.

Looks to me like "Don't Speak" doesn't have the Ringtone Bell next to in the pic on the Ringtones page. Doesn't that mean its not available to make into a ringtone?

Hey, what do you know. It borked my library. Fortunately the import/export trick from the last upgrade worked.

Let's hope this doesn't become a regular occurrence.

Help !
I am having a problem with the new iTunes. I installed and got this response: "Warning! iTunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CD, you need to reinstall iTunes.
I removed and reinstalled several times but this did not help. I also tried installing a previous version of iTunes that did work and it would not open because the library's are not compatible.
I can still import files but cannot burn or import CDs.

I hope someone has a solution for this issue.

thank you

Janice

Yes I did and I just tried to import a CD and it worked fine. I still cannot burn a disk though and get the same error window when I reopen iTunes.

This is a PC running AMD Athlon 64X 2 Dual Core 6000+ W/2Gb Memory and Windows XP Pro 64bit Service Pack 2. I have not had any problems with other iTunes builds before this.

Weird, An update to 7.4.1 just appeared. Same description as 7.4 I think.

38.5 MB.... don't remember how that compares to the 7.4 update...

7.4.1 breaks the ringtone renaming 'hack'... DON'T upgrade if you want free ringtones!

edit: Apparently you can just rename them to m4a (in the Ringtones folder) and they work fine.

It didn't work here with 7.4, either.

They seem to at least have fixed the visual glitch where album ratings wouldn't update properly.

Since when does the search field in the iTunes Store have a drop down auto-complete menu? Is this new?

And now a Ringtones ("Klingeltöne") category suddenly appeared even though I don't own an iPhone (and never will). One more thing to turn off in the preferences.
