I'm thinking about cutting the cable TV and instead getting a mac mini with boxee to work on my TV. Wouldnt I need a keyboard then to control the TV? How do you guys get around using the keyboard ?

Get an iPhone or iPod Touch and use AirMouse to control the Mac from the couch

We've got exactly your setup, no cable anymore. Haven't missed it once.
We control the mini either with a wireless keyboard and mouse, or most often via screen sharing on the laptop. Whichever way you choose, it works just fine.

I use JollysFastVNC to control my mini(s). Free and snappy enough.

10.5 comes with fast, reliable screen sharing built in.
