Ripit dead, which is the best choice to rip DVD

Ripit dead, did not upgrade since 2005
HandBrake , always crash (no response) when i insert a Disney DVD "UP", it seams did not support encrypted DVD.
Mactherip , can't find where to download
WinX DVD Ripper ( WinX DVD Ripper for Mac extracts video, audio | MacNN) only runs on Intel Mac.
where is the dvd ripper software i can use

Handbrake should work. I think you need to install VLC (for the codecs).

thx, does the vlc will help the Handbrake to load DVD ? or just use the VLC to play the DVD ?
because Handbrake just dead when it come to scan DVD , and i am sure i use the latest version VLC and Handbrake .
do i have another choice ?

How is RipIt dead?, I bought it a year ago and it was 1.2.12, now it is already on 1.4.2.

VLC is needed for the decss library. Handbrake no longer includes it.
What version of vlc is in your Applications folder and is it 32-bit or 64-bit VLC?
What version of Handbrake are you using? The 'bitness' must match VLC. SupportFAQ – HandBrake

What on earth are you talking about? I use both Handbrake and RipIt and have no issues at all with even the newest movies that I've purchased. In fact, I just got a RipIt update a couple of weeks ago. VLC has the codecs for Handbrake to use... it seems like to me you simply don't have VLC installed.

Mac DVD Ripper Pro is another option. It's not on par with AnyDVD (well, none of them are), but it's pretty good for the platform.

If you go Windows I recommend DVDFab, but AFAIK, RipIt is alive and well. OSX alternatives include HandBrake, MacTheRipper, DVDRemaster, and Mac DVDRipper Pro.

If you're having trouble scanning a DVD, try selecting the Advanced tab in the Handbrake preferences and check off "Use libdvdnav (instead of libdvdread)".

Thx, i found the answer . because HB can't scan XProtected copy protected DVD , such as Disney new released DVD, UP ,etc. search in Google i found this thread in HandBrake forum.
does Ripit support the new Disney DVD ?
btw: the Disney DVD has about 50G movies content, i am sure its not Bluray, it is DVD.

There is no way that a standard DVD, even DL, can hold 50GB of data - about 8 GB is the limit. That disk must be Blu-Ray.

Use Fairmount to rip and then process the file with Handbrake.

Disney DVDs have a number of titles with the chapters out of order. The chapters are only stored on disk once, but it can appear to be 500GB in content from 99 titles * 5 GB worth of content in scrambled order.

MTR 4 should be your first choice. Do a Google to make your way to the forums, jump through the hoops to get a copy, read the manual, and enjoy.
RipIt is not dead... it just had an update recently. The only DVDs that MTR gets hung up on for me are some of the newer Disney titles, which RipIt seems to manage very well, so I use RipIt for pretty much these Disney discs.
MDRP is ok. I have it, but have never needed to use it.
Handbrake AFTER you've got a decrypted VIDEO_TS.
DON'T STEAL MOVIES.
