If I try to print a file to PDF using Word X, I always end up with a truncated footer. I usually set the margins to 1 inch all around. Has anybody else experienced this problem, and have they discovered a work around?

Are you using Acrobat to do this, or OS X's in-built Save As PDF?

I'm using the built-in "Save As PDF..."

According to this post from VersionTracker, the footer issue is a known bug in Word:
3-year-old footer bug in Word still not fixed - Version: 10.1.6, 10/20/2004 06:53PM PST
Yudit: Before SR1, a footer setting of 0.5" in Word made the footer print at 0.5" (as it should). After installing SR1, a footer setting of 0.5" still made the footer print at 0.5" BUT the lower half of the footer was cut off on both the printed page and in pdf files. [Microsoft acknowledged this bug YEARS ago.] So, to have a footer that printed competely, the footer had to be set at 0.56". (If I wanted my legacy documents to print correctly, I'd have to open and print them in the original version of Word v.X [I keep a copy on my computer for just this reason]). In this latest version of Word (10.1.6), a footer setting of 0.5" actually makes the footer print at 0.69". A footer setting of 0.4" makes the footer print at 0.56", and that's the lowest you can go without having the footer cut off on the bottom. So, it is still not possible to have a footer actually print at the standard position of 0.5". Word 2004 is no different, but surprise the PC version of Word does not have this problem.
In addition to the slight font differences between the Mac and PC versions of Word that make the same document print out differently on the two platforms, here is another area where the same setting will translate differently on Macs and PCs. I have a very hard time believing this longstanding bug correction failure on Microsofts part isnt intentional.
Laugh now, Microsoft, but hear this: Your billions won't help you escape your karma.
