I ran into this site the other day. And I really love looking at different logos designed all over the world. I'll never get to actually SEE these, but I thought it was cool. Maybe a few of you will think so as well.

Interesting stuff. I have a few propaganda posters from the USSR (two military and a housing one) that are kinda cool for much the same reasons. Some of the stuff in there reminds me of them.

Ok, fair enough.
The pictures are really something. Its amazing to see how life was at the end of the communist era.
I wonder if you go back now and compare was it was to now and see if it was better or worse.

Not only are they beautiful, but capture the cold war and wwII feel around the world.
Bold lines, strong contrast, striking poses...
I saw this style in smaller towns in southern Japan (actually old Densha adverts that were written in German)
Recently went to Beijing and had the opportunity to see a lot of striking old architecture from the old days, not much signage left though.

The caption says he was wearing it in because the president was visiting. The guy who took the picture probably asked him why. Back in 1989 everyone over there had dreams of coming to America, whether they were in a communist country or not. But especially the people from communist countries.
I was EXTREMELY popular with the other kids in my father's village in Greece when I went there in 1989 when I was 13. And they all wanted to know about America. Heck, even in 2007 they all want to know about America.

Agreed. And person man, I love that latest one you posted. That is one of the things I like about going to a different land. Seeing the way they design their city with artwork etc. I get excited or proud when a billboard or sign or logo I have made gets added to our small city. I guess it makes me feel in a somewhat overblown way that I added something to it to make it easier on the eyes.
How many of you here remember the old 60s/70s 7up signs? They really had an effect on me. And still do. I bet the person that designed it probably hasn't a clue. Or maybe he or she does.
