I have an Alpine face in my car, and use a cable that converts the Ai-Net jack on the back of the face to the bottom of an iPod via. the standard dock connection. This works great, and allows me to play my iPod through the Auxiliary input on my stereo without audio loss. When I plug my iPhone into the cable it charges, but any songs I play still play over the iPhone speakers. I can't figure out how to get it to play out of the stereo (send audio signal out of the dock connection). Any help would be great

I've read that if you have the iPod running when you plug in the cable from the Alpine to the iPhone, it will work as normal. I personally haven't tried it, but it's worth a shot.

I was thinking about replacing my stock stereo in my Rover with the Alpine. Do you like the Alpine? How's the iPod connectivity? Let me know if that trick works with the iPhone, if so I'm going to get the Alpine.

Nope, still plays through the speakers on the phone

Why is the iPhone so picky about what you can and can't play through?

I have an Alpine 9855 HU plus IPOD adapter. This combination works for my IPOD and iPhone without a problem. A message "The accessory was not designed for use with iPhone" come up. I just click OK, and everythoing seems to work. Phone calls normal while connected to Alpine.

My iPhone went into airplane mode when I connected it to my Alpine radio. Played the music thru the car speakers but could not make or receive phone calls.

Which Alpine HU do you have? I'm using the KCA-420i Ipod adapter with an Alpine 9855 HU.
