Just bought my new Titanium 800 and discovered that it want mount a DVD-R written on an iMac. The same DVD-R has no problem on my iBook 500DVD. Is that any kind of known issue?

That's strange. I haven't an 800-megahertz PowerBook G4 to test anything on, but DVD-R disks written by my SuperDrive iMac are playable on all of my Macs including a Pismo, another iMac, and a 500-megahertz TiBook. <img border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" title="" src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" />

Have you tried burning another one?

I have the same problem with my Powerbook 550. A technician told me it could be from a defective laser in my Optical drive. Im not sure if that is correct but it sucks all the same!

Could that be a matter that could be solved through a future firmware update of the drive? I will try to burn some more DVD-R to see what happens with other brands too. If anyone has found a solution in the meantime, please post a comment...
Thanks in advance...

We are talking about the Combo drives on the new Powerbooks (667-800) and perhaps on some earlier models (550-667) and any kind of DVDRs.

Did anyone check if it is the way the DVDRs are burned? I mean that I only checked disks created with Apple's Disk Burner and not with Roxio's Toast. Could that make a diference?

Did anyone talk with tech support about that issue?
