I am looking for suggestions on free drawing programs. Something comparable to MS Paint.

1. That's not free
2. It's not intended as a painting program
Teal however, is an app specifically aimed at basic painting/editing.

Thanks, Teal appears to be similar to MS Paint (not that it is great, just simple).
That is what I was looking for.

Palette is another simple paint program.

There's also Seashore, which is based on the GIMP. Much more powerful that MSPaint, but just as easy if you're looking for basic stuff.
If you can handle X11, you can also just use the GIMP itself.
