Do Vodaphone not train their sales people AT ALL, or do they know something super secret?

Vodaphone telesales girl:"So how can I help you to switch from O2 to Vodaphone?"

Me: "You can't I'm waiting for the iPhone."

Vodagirl: "Well Sir, Vodaphone will be launching the iPhone in December, we're testing it now and ironing out any service issues."

Me: "I don't think so. I think O2 have the exclusive distribution in the UK."

VodaGirl: "I think that come December you'll find that they don't."

Me: "eh!!!"

comment is invited.

O2 have the exclusive, it's sealed.

Vodafone are either incorrectly training their staff, or she was just trying to get another sale (most likely).

Most folk'll say anything to get the sale/commission and then let someone else deal with the consequences later...

She can't tell you what they are and aren't testing.

That's as excellent as the Radio Shack manager that told me in May that Radio Shack was going to have the iPhone first, and not to wait in line at ATT or Apple.

Meanwhile, it's October and Radio Shack hasn't got them.

Can't make a sale? Make junk up!

Indeed. We agreed to differ at the end. She insisted Vodaphone would launch the iPhone in December. I pointed out that I didn't want a contract with a company that I know was misinforming me.

I can only imagine how many people won't know though and will end up with Vodaphone contracts they can't get out of.
