In exporting my iMovie, what codec should I choose from the expert menu, as in what's the best one? Also, I can only seem to export it to a quicktime movie, and not an mpeg. Can this be done? I also try exporting the quicktime movie in quicktime pro, and don't see any mpeg options. Can someone help me out and give me their opinion of what I should be using to compress my video? Also, does anyone have any ideas on what the "standard" DV resolution size is? Everytime I go with a preset export, it seems like my movie is being chopped some. I want to export it at the original size..is this 480 x 360 or something else? I can't really seem to find a size from any of my DV files. Sorry, just looking for advice in lots of areas...thanks so much.

It depends on the ultimate medium of delivery for your movie, e.g. CD, web, email.
Here's a suggestion for CD settings:
From QuickTime Pro Export
Sorenson 3
320X240
Medium Quality
15 frames per second
Set key frames to 75
Set the data rate to 150+ (100 to ensure that the movie will run on PCs and Macs built in the last five years)
I got these from the
iMovie FAQ

Addendum:
iMovie doesn't do the mpeg thing. If you buy and install Toast 5, you will be able to create VCDs and have mpeg files. If the computer you wish to play them on is fast enough, VCD files actually play well and look good on computers. Even PCs
