I'm in London just now and near one of the spots that was hit. Pretty calm all round, not much chaotic behaviour (we're not Americans).

I am a good 200 miles away, but getting more worried about friends in the Capital

Anyway, Frank Gardner a BBC correspondent (who was paralysed when he was shot by Al Q in Saudi), has said that a group related to Al Quaeda has claimed responsibility, and also that he has heard through 'unofficial' channels that it was Al Quaeda related...

Also, they think the bus bombing was a suicide bomber! In London! Madness

100's possibly 1000's of people are still underground.

The death toll could be horrendous.

I wouldn't pay too much attention just yet as to who did this. Many groups, mostly unknown ones, come forward to claim responsibility in the initial first few days.

Probably is Al-Qaeeda, but there's many cells to them.

Good Link to eyewitness accounts.

London seems to be handling the situation very well.

Off-topic. But, Blair is such a friggin tosser. What he said in that press briefing was a joke. Such blatant misinformation being spewed out.

Well at least Blair is making his way back to London. My wife and I remember another foreign leader ducking and dodging for safety.

Now that would be something. Mind you, I don't think we need bombs to get at Bush. He seems to be very capable of doing damage to himself as seen by him crashing a bike into a policeman the other day.

I think my wife has found a pub somewhere and ordered herself a Stella and some crisps to calm her nerves. I hope everyone else is doing okay. Its good that there is a way to discuss the issue like this.

I'm glad she's ok, it's extremely frightening to have loved ones caught up in tragedy. Staying indoors now should be a good thing.

I'll say. In the interviews with those in the subways, I was amazed at the calmness and toughness when they told their stories.

I must admit that sitting here in private I came up with some conspiracy theories and some made me laugh, but only because I needed a chuckle knowing my wife is in London.

As far as peoples reactions... WOW, some of those people are calm.

It probably has to do with Londons history with IRA. This isn't something new to them and they'll deal with it(hopefully the pre-9/11 way instead of the post-9/11 way).

To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged;- and verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid

Have spent all morning getting in touch with all of the members of my team in London. Everyone is now accounted for. We have one person we've sent for counselling who had to get off the Tube near Kings Cross and was walking through Tavistock Square. She saw the bus explode and is very shaken by what she saw.

What kind of person bombs the Tube and then delays bombing the bus so that it's packed with people trying to get to work? What a f*cked up world.

Yep. We're used to this kind of thing (as used to it as can be possible). 30 years of the IRA blowing stuff up helped us with that.
