i'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet. since the mini ipods are anondized aluminum in different colors, could alum powerbooks in different colors (pink?!) be in the not-to-distant (ok, maybe distant) future?

I sure as hell hope not, because anodized aluminum looks like cheap garbage. It looks like the stuff Pep Boys sells to dumb kids in Hondas.

eMacs, what?

I don't see the logic between colored iPods to colored PowerBooks.

I don't agree. Red, blue and black annodized aluminum looks awesome IMHO. I expect the G5 PBs to have the same core current form factors, but will be colored in some way to distinguish them from the current crop of machines. Apple spent a lot of time building these new cases, and they're going to have to spend significant R&D on the revised motherboard design.

Thus, no new form factors, just colors, for the PB G5s when they're ready to go.

I still think dual G4s will be released before G5s -- and by then, color may be 'in' again.

I'd like my powerbook to be light green (hey, apple green!) or pink

But I doubt it. Powerbook is meant for professionals...if they're gonna do colours, I think they'll do it on the iBooks.

A red or black anodized Powerbook would be awsome IMO. I would buy one in a second. But like Rain said...the market for Powerbooks is mainly aimed at Professionals...where the main concern is not so much in style, and color. So I doubt we will see colored Powerbooks.

Yes, I wonder what looks I'll get if I pulled out a "pink" PB in a client meeting

I doubt Apple will ever create colored PB's. If they were to ever consider giving their laptop line colors, it would defnitely go to the iBooks. If you look at the iBooks now, its basically like the iPod. Apple kind of wants the PB to have a professional image so I doubt we will ever see it in a colorful range of colors. Ibooks, maybe, PB's, HA!

Yeah, I saw that on ScreenSavers. Talk about having money to burn. I'd love to send in a colorize PB for a screen defect just for them to tell my I voided my warranty.

Even the iMacs haven't been colored for two years, though.

Anyway, Apple's multi-colored products (G3 iMac, iPod mini, clamshell iBook) have generally been consumer products, not pro. Except for the blue & white G3, but that was years ago. So I seriously doubt we'll see colored Powerbooks.

I agree, Powerbooks are for the professional user - therefore I eagerly await my pinstripe model

An ibook mini would be a cool concept. A sub 3 pound notebook with an external optical drive. It would generate newfound competition among the ultralights if Apple joined the party.

I'd buy a pink Powerbook in a heartbeat.

Sure, Powerbooks may be for "pro" users, but who says pros don't like colour?
iBook G4: 800mhz, 640mb, 40gb ("Astrid")
iPod: 30gb Photo ("Gordon"), 1gb Shuffle ("Tinker Bell")
For the record: I am female

I wouldn't count on it. Powerbooks are supposed to be prolevel. I don't see an executive walking into a board meeting with a green powerbook. I'd count on colors in the iBooks way before they hit powerbooks, if ever. Return to the colorful glory of the original toiletseatBook!
I wouldn't mind competing with some of those VooDoo laptops , but I don't want my $2000 computer being compared to a Skittle.

I'd buy a black PowerBook.

cdhostage, you could always get a Pismo G3 and a G4 processor card .

iBook mini in anodised aluminium? Nice idea!

It'll be much easier if you just comply.
