Swollen batteries STILL exist as a problem for current Macbooks.

Just reading on xlr8yourmac there are still ongoing user reports of battery problems in all the ranges.
Who would trust buying a new Macbook?

This happens with any manufacturer. Apple does not make the batteries, and they use the same cells other manufacturers do.
Why should you get a macbook? CAuse you want a computer, and it is unlikely for you to get a swolen battery. apple sells millions of computers..... a couple or even a hundred swollen batteries can be replaced. You have a small chance of getting a bad battery, and even so. it can be replaced.
If you got any other computer, you could easially have the same problem.

Most of the batteries Apple uses are made by LG, Sony, Sanyo, and/or Simplo.
As for the swollen battery problem, I think the recall from last summer is the best indication that a LOT of work needs to be done with the OEM before making any public statements or recalls about a product whose primary job function is to absorb a crapload of electrons and spit them out again later. It's very simple: batteries do amazingly dangerous tasks and when not made PERFECTLY, they may respond poorly.
Your best bet is to report the problem to Apple immediately and ask for an exchange of the faulty product so they can analyze the batteries as best as they can. While they may not make a public statement to satisfy your need for professional showmanship, do you honestly think Apple wants it's logo circulating on products that cause people to start threads like this?

Not enough to ask Apple to replace it?

yeah... although I have a laundry list of crap to get a replacement comptuer for (logic board wine, display wine, speaker issues, HD failure, magsafe failure partial firewire failure....)
so yeah.. I probably just add that to the list when I call.

Now its reached the "17's
17" Macbook Pro Battery bulge - MacTalk Forums
Looks like ill pass on this generation and wait 3 months into next.. Don't trust this at all, because I need a portable to travel with, now while i'm in Brazil, whose going to fix my laptop when the battery swells?
Apple is loosing confidence in its users even if its not their fault. I hope next gen they address these issues as solved with confidence.
