Back to the main point (without reading the article) I can only assume in the gates case they gave a boat load of money away for a variety of humanistic causes. Few people have the money he has and most of them do all that they can do to hold on to it, he's different in giving it away.

Being Time's "Man of the Year" has nothing to do with selling iPods ... Bono and Gates both give alot in terms of money and time to charity. What does His Steveness do to deserve being Time's "Man of the Year" (since you're obviously making an Apple vs M$ statement)?
