It seems to have just one so you can upgrade RAM to a max of 1,25 GB with one expensive 1GB SO-DIMM.
BTW I am very close to buying one.

the 12" rev B has 256mb ram built in, and one user-accesible slot that usually comes with another 256mb.
so, as of today, the reasonable limit of ram is 768mb (256+512). of course, there are 1gb ram sticks, but those are just way to expensive ($500+).

So that means 2, one built in 256 MB and the extra one for another to upgrade up to our pocket, thank you.

Off topic question here but:
will my iBook RAM be recognized by the PB?
will my airport card work on the airport extreme PB?
I think the RAM will probably not work, as the RAMs are of different types. But since Airport and Airport Extreme as supposed to be compatible, I'm hoping I don't have to spend on an Extreme card.

unfortunately neither the ram nor the airport cards will work as the physical dimensions of AE is different than airport. And the pb ram is ddr while the ibook's is sdram

DDR and SDRAM SODIMMS have different pinouts, also - 168 vs. 200 pin. The edgecard connection is physically different - the orientation slot is off to one side on the DDR modules.

This isn't the case to my knowledge. Both of the non-BTO machines on the Apple site are 256MB machines, and both of these have that 256MB of RAM in the slot which isn't accessible. In fact I'd be surprised if it wasn't soldered onto the motherboard.

The built-in 256 MB is soldered onto the motherboard.
