nobody?
the only place i can find a 1gb ram chip is from apple or transintl.
Personally i'm not sure if 768mb is enough to run applications like photoshop, indesign and illustrator simultaneously.

It's unlikely that you're going to find too many 1Gig stick users until prices come down a good bit.

not I. I have 640 MB. I don't run the RAM-needy apps like photoshop, and my machine runs very well.

I've found the 1GB chip fairly cheap, only 169 + 12,50 shipping, which totals 181,50 Not bad, I'm going to get that, but I need to get the 12" first...

Make sure you're looking at the right one. Seems like that price might be for a Desktop 1GB Ram stick. You want a 200pin SODIMM 1GB Stick (PC2100) to fit in your PowerBook. The cheapest those go for these days are about $550 US.

I ordered a 15, 1.25 with a single 1GB stick, and it's due in this Friday. Cross your fingers for me that it comes in in time, and I'll write my thoughts for you. Feel free to email me, too...
The only thing I'm wondering is if I'll notice any benefit over that (say, to 1.5...) Thoughts?

I did. Got mine from OWC. Runs like a dream. No problems, no crashes, does everything I need it to, so far. I'm really waiting for Panther before installing any third party software.

Why are you waiting for Panther to install 3rd party apps?

I'm planning on doing a erase and install, just for fun. No real reason to, other than I feel like waiting and can afford to. Just want a clean slate when I get to 10.3.
