macbook ram. mix 533mhz ram with macbook original ram

hi. i got a spare 512mb ram from my laptop pc. its using 1.83ghz core duo. same as the macbook. so can i mix the ram with the original ram from macbook. currently i have 256x2 ram for the macbook.i wanna make it 768. thanks in advance.
edit: my pc ram is 533mhz..will that be a problem?

It may not fit. Processor speed has no relevance (in my experience).

I have 1 x 256 and 1 x 1GB sticks in my intel iMac giving a total of 1.25. When I bought the 1GB stick, I unknowingly bought 533 Mhz RAM instead of 667. It has been working fine for 8 months now. Just I guess I am getting a bit of a performance hit.

It will work, but if the RAM from your PC laptop is 533 MHz, it will downclock the RAM in your MacBook (667 MHz) to 533 MHz. So both RAM sticks will be running at 533 MHz.
From what I've heard, the difference in performance between 667 MHz and 533 MHz is not much.

You do not NEED 667 MHz, but it's preferred. 533 MHz RAM will run fine in the MacBook. I've tried it myself on mine.

Im running two 1GB 533MHz sticks in my BlackBook, it works perfectly fine, and the difference between 667 and 533 isnt anything to be concerned with!
