I intentionally phrased it weird because I'm bored.
What Leo was saying is it's a matter of time before someone offers to pay Chad more than he can match.

Highlights of the TWiT election coverage:
Them eating sammiches.
Fart jokes.
Would Teddy Roosevelt beat Andrew Jackson in a fight?
Noting how tough it is to stall for a whole hour between the MT poll closings and the PT closings.
Explanation of our ****ed up Electoral College system to international viewers.
Chatroom updates from people in each state coming faster than the national results.
Cluing me in on the NPR "big board". This is what I want on the TV.

Marco Arment and John Siracusa are both ending their shows on 5by5 in December.
I would say those are his two biggest shows.
Not looking so hot for 5by5 right now.
If I was a betting man, I would bet that they are both going to follow John Gruber over to Mule Radio.

I think the deal is that Dan Benjamin takes too much of a cut.
I'm willing to bet it's as simple as that.
I don't know what kind of deal Arment and Siracusa had, but I think word on the street is that Gruber was annoyed that the entire 5by5 network was basically built around the popularity of his show, and yet he was getting the same 50/50 split. He saw Dan making a full fledged business out of what they started together, and he was not included nor compensated fairly.
It seems crazy to just walk away from the shows though, since you really do make a lot of money from doing it. If I remember correctly, just being on 5by5 nets you something like 50k per year. Not bad for having to talk for an hour and a half a week.
I think them both leaving at the same time is pretty much 100% confirmation that they are both going somewhere else. Who can blame them? If they are leaving money on the table, it's in their best interest to move.

To put it at the other end, I think some of the lowest-ranking hosts get a couple hundred a show plus ad bonuses.

Leo returns.
McCracken
Ingram
Millian
I'm glad Leo's back, but I'll miss having hosts who feel like they need to bring their A-game.

I'd rather have lost Dvorak. I'd like to see how she'd fare without him being there giving her a pass.
I should be thankful he was gone for a couple weeks, however.

I found myself liking Dvorak more without O'Dell. I certainly appreciated him slamming the jewelry ads. I don't think anyone else has the stones to bag on a sponsor.

I haven't watched the ep yet, but isn't generally regarded as poor panel behavior? Shouldn't he be bagging on Leo for running them?

I haven't watched yet, but when there is very little going on the shows are usually pretty dull. Usually...
Sometimes the opposite happens if there is a good panel.

I'm the kind of guy who skips right to the comments section when CNN posts a story about Apple.

Oh, I don't post. I just read them. I tweak my nipples and read pearls of wisdom like this...
(from today's big apple story on CNN)
Apple is the biggest Thief Here. has the balls to sue Samsung and yet it didn't invent any of it... "Slide to Unlock" not theirs Windows CE 2 years Prior, Notification Bar Nope Android 1.0 3 years before apple, Design if iPhone maybe? Nope wrong again, Samsung F700 release 2006 1 year prior to iPhone 1. For Pete sake even their iPod/iTunes commercial since 2003 was stolen from Lugs Shoe advert campaign in 2002. Also many other things are not Apples, Split Keyboard, WiFi Sync, Camera Unlock, Mac OS Dock, All on other phones PRIOR to iPhone Release. Now tell me what did Apple Really invent?
Dont forget the whole iPhone business model is stolen from Danger and the Sidekick.
-OS specific App Store
-Exclusivity contracts
-Zero carrier control
-Yearly hardware and software refreshes
-Software and Hardware made together
I could literally keep going Palm OS, Samsung F700, and the Sidekick model = an iPhone..
Apple did make the first modern smartphone so they deserve tons of credit for that. BUT they stole countless ideas along the way
My FIRST GSM phone with touch screen was in 2003 - it was something called an iPAQ (note the 'i') - it ran something called Windows CE - iPhone came out in 2007???
It also had IrDA, and a memory slot - sure it wasn't as fast and didn't have a million apps (most of which are useless even today for all phones), but there were still third party apps that you could buy anywhere and MS didn't take a cut of every developers profits.
Of course the chip and battery technologies were not where they are today.... Funny - technology works that way...
Oh - did I mentioned the rounded corners???
I am SO tired of the iSheep taking credit for everything from evolution to toast.
YES - Apple has been innovative - but I have a hard time thinking of any specific technology they actually created - They certainly packaged and marketed certain technologies well...
But even their OS - past and present - have been subsets of other creations - From Applesoft and Integer BASIC (the early years) to the original GUI (XEROX Star) to the Darwin LINUX core of today.
The Billions they spend is in 'pretty' and 'marketing' -
Regardless - to think you actually believe that Apple created everything is only proof that you believe everything you are told. Maybe you should use Google to find useful information and not just for shopping...
That's just a sampling from the first 20 comments or so.

I always love the "didn't invent anything" line of thinking.
Ogg no smart. He no invent wheel. It just round rock. Me see round rock in river. Me see round coconut. Moon in sky round. Ogg not innovate. Ogg hit rock with other rock and make round no big deal. Me hit rock with rock all the time. Everyone do it.

Tom did a show from LA yesterday. Skype made him sound like he was talking through a sock. It was like shoving sandpaper in my ears.
This won't end well.

Probably the most depressing TWiT ever.
Almost the first words out of Leo's mouth is he's sad Tom Merritt has moved.
Aaron Swartz kills himself with an assist from the Federal Government.
CBS management tells c|net they can't nominate Dish for an award because CBS is suing them.
Patent troll who owns the patent to podcasting is suing Adam Carolla and How Stuff Works. TWiT's probably next, and this troll has a good enough case they got Apple to cave (that was pre-show).
The highlight of CES, other than the most sexist booth in the event's history, is a fork.
At least we all get a good laugh at Qualcomm.

In a Sudden Clarity Clarence moment, I've just realized the real appeal of TWiT to me is it's a reality TV show about running a network.

I'm not that impressed by the Padre.
He has a pleasant personality, a good "stage presence, and is very knowledgable in general... but he just usually doesn't have very interesting opinions.
He definitely doesn't ruin the show when he's on, but at the same time he doesn't add much.
