I don't watch unless Dvorak is on, I like weekly grump binging.

I'm curious enough to hear him bitch about the iPhone I'm actually cueing it up as a podcast. They left it out of today's reruns for whatever reason.

He probably won't even bitch about it. I don't think he really cares that much about any of this stuff.
Although last year was really bad. Leo was on vacation when the iPhone launched and the panel that week spent about 5 minutes on the iPhone 5 before moving on.
Hey, you know, it's only the most popular tech product of the year, but whatever, lets just move on.

He had one good line when he used his hot dog article as an example of the demise of journalism.
Two things missed in the show.
First, a Chicago hot dog does not need to be Vienna. ****... what a garbage weiner.
Second, the most important aspect of a Chicago dog is no ketchup.

I like it when Leo leaves because everyone starts bringing their A-game.
I'm positive they all feel like they're auditioning for his job.

TWiT After Dark finally exists. They call it TWiT After Dark.
Of course, it's hosted by the Padre.

Anything stick out? I only half listened.
For my part I was getting sick of Leo, but now after three weeks I kinda want him back.

Funny, after last week I was like "Leo being gone is great."
Now, I think part of the problem is Leo means a high chance of Dvorak which means a show by the numbers, but I guess he just runs a little long. I used to love the meandering but the other hosts do it to in a much more "efficient" manner.

Interesting. He's both funny and personable, so now I almost want to watch it again to see what fizzled.
The only thing about him which consistently bothers me is when he drops into "homily" voice.

Because what we really needed was another 45 minute discussion on government spying and privacy on the internet.
I think the big problem this week is that nothing all that interesting happened. Sometimes that means the hosts go off the rails and have a really interesting talk on some non-news topic and sometimes it's just kinda dull. This one is dull so far. I'm about 2/3 of the way through.

To be fair, big data and enterprise are the Padre's deal. Plus, the NSA pushes Norton and Shwood's buttons.

I don't disagree that it's an important topic, but I feel like it's gotten from 20-60 minutes of talk time in every show for the last 3 months.

Gotta hand it to Chad. He's taking over hosting The Giz Wiz from Leo. That's hosting two shows, while also producing and tech directing the network's three flagship shows.
That's some serious work ethic. Props.

Didn't you worry that taking on that workload killed producers earlier in the thread? Or maybe it was just hosting that tempted them to leave.

Absolutely. Making this an "eat crow" type of thing.
If Chad didn't have behind-the-scenes shit in order, I doubt Leo would have added to the workload like that.
Not just giving him a new job, but letting him fill the Leo shoes.

What a surprise, Shwood + Thurston = good show.
Also, Leo not knowing the difference between a Wii and a Wii U pleases me to no end.

Interesting inside baseball that Shwood won't leave Texas because of income tax.

This is the common refrain of Texas entrepreneurs. Even Dwight Howard was rumored to have chosen Houston last summer because of the lack of a state income tax.
You guys made me reassess Shwood last year. His high-octane delivery used to annoy me, but he really does have some of the best comments every time he appears on the show.

What consistently gets me is how nice he is. It's totally at odds with his schtick, which I see as a flavor of Criss Angel douchebag.

It's makes both Nintendo and Leo come off looking really bad.
Firstly, Leo should know the difference. It's his job to the know the difference.
Second, holy crap, if even someone like Leo doesn't know the difference, Nintendo screwed up their messaging BAD.

While I do think he's slipping, I don't see the Wii U really being something Leo should know about it the grand scheme of things. There's no game show on the network and he barely games.

Oh, and get this... they just started alpha on a new show for gamers. It's more like a regular TWiT show.
They're also doing a game show, game show. Like, with geek trivia.

I don't know, there are only 3 main game consoles and they change about every 5 -7 years.
Even if you don't use the consoles all that much, simply knowing what they are should be part of the knowledge arsenal of someone running a tech news broadcast site and doing a talk radio show about technology.
I know he can't know everything, but that is something he should really know.

TWiT is more Engadget and less IGN.
But...it is kind of embarrassing. Leo should probably know the difference, and be able to comment that Nintendo did a horrible job getting their message out. Instead, he proves they did a horrible job getting their message out by not knowing the difference himself? He is almost 60, though.

What i will say is that the Wii U had to come up on the show at release and whatever was discussed it looks like Leo forgot it.

Was it me or was the intro really ingratiating to Bilton? I felt like it was the only way Leo could have gotten him on.

It was.
I'm positive there wasn't a prior agreement, but Leo really likes him. Also, Bilton was supposed to leave early, so Leo was front-loading. Bilton changed his schedule without telling anyone.

Still, putting his book in frame leaning against his laptop was behavior I've never seen him engage on for other guests. He likes to promote guests but this was over the top.

I'd say it goes back to liking Bilton. Leo's questioned why he's been so hard to get back.
