i have a beige g3 with a g4 500 chip
a non native dvd drive
576 mb ram
radeon 7000
i was able to install the apple dvd player(wich worked in 10.1.5) using pacifist. the player loads the movie and plays it. but at some point it will crash. sometimes it just quits out, sometimes it freezes and tells me to restart and other times it will scroll a buch of text(mentioning something about improper resource fork and kernel problems) across the screen and gives me the option to c continue or r reboot, neither do a thing. also when i looked at my system profiler i don't have a memory overview section. it doesnt list any of my usb devices connected through a pci card either, but the devices do all work. so...i'm confused with this whole thing. i have been told i could have bad ram but i haven't found a way to check it. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Write down the information displayed on screen when you get the kernel panic... and post it on the forum. we may identify where the issue comes from.

I've seen a similar crash... or at least a crash with a similar crash log. I started a new thread on it, because it's not associated specifically with the DVD player in my case-- and I've heard of it happening from other people, who report it being "associated" with various seemingly unrelated applications. Do a search for "fix_prebinding" to find the thread.
