Primary PowerBook is my new 1.25Ghz 15" AlBook (Combo Drive, 60Gb, 512Mb), which I waited 34 days for it to be delivered - arrived this Monday!

It replaces my PowerBook Duo 280c - 33Mhz 8.4" (External FD, 500Mb, 20Mb).

Also now lying unused are a Duo 270c - 33Mhz 8.4" (250Mb, 4Mb) and Duo 230 - 33Mhz 9.1" Mono (500Mb, 8Mb)

So I've made quite a leap in performance in the most recent addition to my PowerBook family
It's arrived - 15" PB 1.25Ghz - Damn is this a fine machine!

Wow, looks like most people here owns the 15inch Al Powerbook, as well as the Rev. B 12inch. Hmmm... I really thought there would be more of us 17 inch Powerbook Rev. A users... at least there were a lot before.

Mine's a Rev A 12'" Aluminium PB hooked up to a Samsung 171N LCD monitor. The PB screen tucks under the Samsung so I run it as one tall virtual screen. I drives my Windoze colleagues crazy when i drag a window between the two screens. "How did you do that????"

Take a look at

http://homepage.mac.com/tgrice/AlBook.jpg

The old Handspring Visor has been replaced by a Bluetooth SE P800. This picture was taken with the P800 hence rather blurry.

A Ti 867 Combo here.

Changed from a Rev A 12" PB a few months ago and not regretted it for a second.

If all goes well, this machine will *easily* be in service until the G5 Powerbook Rev B hits the streets... maybe longer.

I have a classy thoroughbred - TiBook 1GHz with 512MB RAM - will eventually get around to upping that to 1 GB, but am lazy so won't be for ages. Replaced my old beige box in April, and have never looked back!

I traded up my Rev. A TiBook 500 for a shiny new 1.25GHz AlBook.

I'm hoping that the iMac line goes G5 in January so I can replace my dual 500 celery that I built in '99.

Rev. A 17 inch Powerbook.

I just developed white spots on the screen a little over a month ago. I haven't gotten around to sending it in for repair yet. Any ideas of the turn around time?

Wow. Busy year for Powerbooks.

Started with a TiBook 500mhz. Had it for a couple of years and it was showing its age. I upgraded to a Tibook 1ghz. I hated the fan so I traded it for a 17" Rev A Powerbook and a couple of months later, upgraded to a 17" Rev B Powerbook.

And for all of the truly old time road warriors out there who remember what this was, I have a fully functional Mac Portable.

Can someone please clarify something for me? I thought the 12" and 17" Powerbooks which went on sale on Sept. 16 are "Revision A" (not revision B) as this was the first refreshing of those two. Before the Sept. 16 announcement, we only had the originals which came out in February. Why does everyone call the originals a "revision"?

BOT, I have a 17" from the September launch. Revision A, B, or whatever you want to call it.

Edit: My PB 17" almost suffered an untimely death this week. A colleague of mine sat a coffee on my desk and then spilled it inches away from my PB. Luckily, the splash went on me and the rest ran underneath the Powerbook. I just about killed him.

Your logic is right, but it's just how we do it

Rev. A = FIRST one that comes out
Rev. B = SECOND one that comes out

Your 17" PB is a Rev. B

Well, at least we're kind of getting more 17inchers in here now. Feel a little better now.

And yea, for some reason, we call the second edition of the Powerbooks Rev. B, and the first one A, even thought it's not really a Rev. But oh well, that's how it works.
