I posted this on another thread, but I thought it might be fun to see if anyone else has experienced this happy surprise.

My new 12" Powerbook, received today (October 28) had Panther preloaded.

The restore DVD clearly states Mac OS 10.3.

Cool news for those who are about to buy a new Powerbook. I don't think Apple's site even mentions that Powerbooks are starting to ship with Panther already loaded.

I think its Apple's way of saying "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting" ha ha.

When did you place your order? Before or after the 10.3 release.

I'd be kind of upset if mine shipped with panther. I paid $38CAN for the up-to-date program when I ordered my powerbook on OCT 11TH.
You think they would give me a refund?

yeah. they do.
my powerbook didn't come with iLife, so i sent 20 bucks in and the form for the up-to-date program.

they sent me iLife, and then a week later called to say "sorry. your comptuer was SUPPOSED to come with iLife. we're refunding the charge on your card."

and then they sent me another copy of iLife (in a box!)

Hi all. I placed my order on October 3rd, though the University of Western Ontario Campus Computer Store. It arrived at the store on October 28. I was never given a specific ship date, it was just suddenly at the store when I called today.

The Powerbook is a stock 12" with Superdrive. I added extra memory and an Airport card once I got it home.

It's late, so I'll try to post a pic of the restore DVD tomorrow.
