Does anybody know of something like this:
http://www.dvwarehouse.com/TecNec-FW...225d9c086dd75f
except for less than $25? I don't need to mount it in the standard XLR cutout, I just need a way to connect two male firewire cables. One comes from a cigarette lighter iPod charger; the other is a firewire to dock connector cable. Being able to connect the two would allow the Mrs. to charge her 4th gen iPod in the car with the existing cables/adapters we have.
Thanks-
Val

A firewire coupler is the magic geek name that should provide you with many results in Google.

"Barrel connector" is not geek. It's tech. There are "barrel connectors" (which are basically gender reversers) for every known RF connector and for many other, similar connectors (RCA is a great example). Typically though, a barrel connector has two female ends and is used to connect cables with male ends.
And I knew exactly what you were talking about as soon as I read the title of the thread, Val.
Here's an early hit from the search subego suggested. Bingo?

Thanks for recognizing what I meant, GHP. I come from the world of TV news remote broadcasting and run around every day with a BNC barrel in my watch pocket "just in case". Nothing will stop you faster than two BNC ends with nothing to connect them, as XLR connectors are usually "sexed" correctly. I actually did some more searching after I posted and found these things on another online retailers site for about the same price.
