Just upgraded from a Graphite AirPort to the AirPort Extreme that looks like the Graphite one- the "flying saucer" version with the Ethernet in and out ports.

Here's my setup: Cable Modem to Four Port Router and one of those to the AirPort. I had the Graphite one set up so that the router distributed the IP addresses but the version of AirPort Utility is newer for the Extreme and I don't know which setting is proper. Here's the choices I get: "Share a public IP address"; "Distribute a Range of IP Addresses" and "Off (Bridge Mode)".

I've guessed and set it to "Off" but is that correct? I wish to let the router handle the IP addresses (as I have some things connected via ethernet cables for security and speed) so should it be "Off" or "Share"? I'm guessing "Distribute" is if the AirPort is your only thing and connected directly to a modem without a wired router.

Thanks in advance!

Val

Bridge mode is what you want.
