About to start using OS X for the first time. Have been using other Mac systems over the years (but no expert). Would really appreciate your views on either a good book (not too long) or on-line free material that can get me started and quite quickly.

thanks

The single best general-purpose Mac OS X book I've come across is David Pogue's Mac OS X: The Missing Manual. It's not particularly short, but you don't need to read it from cover-to-cover before getting started with Mac OS X.
