OK, this isn't exactly the most mission-critical problem I've ever had, but seeing like we're in the modern age of OS X computing, I feel like it should be simple - and still, I can't quite figure it out.

Currently I'm downloading my podcasts through the fabulous NewsFire into the folder called ~/Miscellany/Podcasts. Because all the podcasts from NPR have an annoying 20-second "thank you" and advertisement at the beginning (and because I feel like I give enough money to NPR to exempt me from having to listen to this message), I would like to monitor additions to the ~/Miscellany/Podcasts folder and perform the following actions on them:
  1. Check to see if the filename starts with the string "NPR."
  2. If it does, clip the first twenty seconds from the audio file.
  3. Save the file and add it to my iTunes library.

Any tips?
