Is it possible to make one of my Core Duo cores (Not Core 2 Duo) inactive?
Having some compatability issues, and the application launches fine if launched on a single core/processor box.

Download Apples CHUD software. It will install a PrefPrane (and a lot of other dev tools) in Sys Prefs under "System" called Processor. You can shut the core off from there.

I'm surprised that you didn't know that peter

That is cool. I assume battery time would be the benefit to doing this?

I also am interested in this. Does the battery last any longer? What compatibility issues are you having?

I think it's actually detrimental to the battery- from my overservations its more efficient to split tasks over 2 cores then let one do the work. I haven't done any scientific studies, but in my experience turning off one core has caused my machine to run hotter and the fans are much louder
