what app is the fastest for converting videos to an mp4 format so I can upload them onto my ipod. The movie files are mostly avi files and they are already on my hard drive. I already have handbrake for my DVDs. I'm not really to concerned with quality as long as it's not horrible, I really just want the speed. I have 2 gigs of ram so i don't believe my hardware needs improvement. I tried searching the web and I'm getting different opinions from everyone, so I would like someone knowledgeable to help me out. You guys on this site are pretty good at helping people out. I guess I'm the only one with this problem because i tried searching the forum and I'm not getting the results I'm looking for. Hope you guys can help. Oh, and it doesn't have to be a free one, if spending some money is going to make it a lot easier for me I'd rather just do that. Thanks..

I prefer ffmpegX, though I guess almost all the other encoders are also based on either ffmpeg or mencoder. It also has encoder presets so you can quickly select the target platform to iPod and it should encode a compatible file right off.
The RAM isn't really a bottleneck for video encoding, you mostly just need a fast processor for that.
