Does anyone know how to get the finder and menus to appear in French?
I have set French as the language and all apps (including system prefs) are in French but not the Finder.
According to Apple's website the Finder can be changed to French, yet I remain unable to achieve this.
Any ideas?
Thanks

When you switched languages did you notice the exclamation mark symbol with instructions that tell you when the changes take effect in the Finder? Follow these instructions.

If you mean logging out before the changes take effect i have done that. I have also restarted.
Please don't assume that because i am asking for help i am an idiot who cannot read instructions.
Any helpful ideas from anyone else?

not speaking french anymore would be a good issue
well, apart from that, sliding 'french' to the top of the list in 'Languages' and then rebooting, I guess it should work fine!

As far as I know moving French to the top of the languages list is the only way to change the language.
This is what I have done and it has not worked.
In order to filter out some answers, please let me rephrase my question:
Has anyone had similar troubles whilst setting the language and, if so, have they come across a cause/fix?
For the record I have also tried re-installing the French language .pkg from the second install disc to no avail.
Junior member yes, idiot no. Thankyou.

Who said anything about being French?
First you assume I'm dumb, then you assume I'm French.
What a welcoming message board this is turning out to be.
Back to the topic anyone?

You were expecting something else? Intelligent discussion?! Get outta here!
(Also, do an archive install and choose French as your main language)

That's nothing personal. Most of the time when something doesn't work it's because of the "idiocy" of the user.
The Finder works fine in French here. Make sure at /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app with Get Info that French is indeed installed for the Finder. If not you have to install the French language with the system CD.
