I cam across some blog postings on this topic a while back and thought I would share. It is a fascinating story with mind-boggling pictures. Enjoy

I remember when I was 5 taking some lame tour in a room behind the falls. You had to wear raincoats etc.

This was in the 70s. Probably 75-76.

The Ninjito/dump site you posted is very interesting. The guy is a very good photographer. I'm very impressed. I keep trying to find what he's shooting with. It appears to be a private site but he's got his folders wide open. Check some of them out.
Do you want forgiveness or respect?

Yeah, you're right. All his folders are wide open. He is an amazing photographer. Every image has this crisp, polished feel to it. I don't know enough--barely anything, really--about serious photography to surmise if these are "natural" images or heavily Photoshopped. What says you?

The guy at the first link is not too shabby as well. If I remember correctly he talks about his shooting rig in some of his posts.

I did that too - maybe we were on the same tour!
except: I was 5 in 1978 and I'm older than you by a few months! THAT'S weird!

lol the Zombie Sex (NSFW) folder on there is great. Single weirdest porn ever. The best part is the arm in the middle of all the porn.

My links are to stories about and pictures of the tunnels and other hidden places behind Niagara Falls. Places that have been abandoned for decades but provide the only up-close experience of actually being behind the Falls.

(I think I did the "lame tour" too when I was a kid. It would have been 77 or 78. I know I did the "Maid of the Mist" boat tour then cause we (me and my Dad) got to cut the line and go ahead of everyone else--He used to run the New York State Parks Department so it came with some perks. These sites are most definitely NOT about that "lame tour".)

Ah cool I'll have to check them out. I hear Niagra Falls has some decent "dark rides" now too.

That'd have been really fun to do. It's too bad they're sealing off those tunnels; I'm sure they're unsafe, but it's a pretty awesome thing, tunnels behind the falls like that.

those pics are so cool. that's exactly the kind of place my father dragged us through all the time when we were kids. he had serious difficulties understanding the concept of 'danger'. [sorry my shift keys just stopped working]

i went to a dance performance in the anchorage of the brooklyn bridge 15 years ago or so. much the same kind of creepy 19th century brick kind of feel.
