Thanks, I really appreciate that. I like the fact that that its clean and simple. Only three colours on the entire car: Silver, black and red. Tiny amount of amber, but i got to be legal.

I spent the past year or two getting it the way i like, appearance and handling wise. Not really going to touch the engine. If only it was RWD.......

I always thought the RSX looked tall, short, and fat compared to the integra. But maybe that's just because I feel pretty much any post 2000 car got fatter, shorter, and taller. I liked the lighter, lower cars of the 90s. I do really like whatever wheels you upgraded to in the last few shots. Much cooler.

I don't have any pictures, but here's mine (except it's the blue version.)

Dunno if this website allows hotlinks.

Those are the 17's that come standard on the 05-06 RSX Type S. Heavier than my stock 16's, but really helps in keeping the cornering flat.

I agree with your thoughts on how cars are getting styled nowadays. I still love my car, but if they were still producing the 5th Gen Prelude when i bought mine that would've been my choice. Classic proportions, and lower.

A yellow ITR would have been hot too.

How do bigger wider wheels keep your cornering flatter? Do you mean just becuase of the shorter sidewall? Have you touched the suspension yet or no? Poly swaybar bushings made a GIGANTIC improvement in handling in my SVX. It was night and day.

Going from 205/55-16 to 215/45-17 makes big difference. More wheel, less sidewall, wider tires. WOW.

I have a 22mm rear sway (from the JDM ITR) with bushings, Spoon strut bars front and rear and Eibach Pro-Kit springs. When the stock shocks blow i'll toss in a set of Yellows or go with a set of Tein SS-P. It handles great now. Really flat and it doesn't plow like most front drivers. I am riding on H rated winter tires right now on the stock rims and the difference is very noticable. I miss the 17's.

Ah. Watch out for for a bit of oversteer with a huge rear bar and a stock front one. I'd really look into poly bushings for your swaybars though, front and rear. I can't stress what an amazing change it was. It was ... just.. it's ****ing great. Best mod I've done to my car, and it only cost about $60 or so.

I added the rear sway to get the oversteer.

Its so easy to break the tail loose now when I want to. And when I don't, it behaves well.

We drove my wife's xB to Canda over Christmas. It was shocking how many people were staring at the car. Some woman even stopped halfway through a cross walk to stare.

Maybe because they thought it was weird to see someone normal driving one. The only people I ever see in those things are wiggers who like big subwoofers.

My semi daily driver when I'm not riding my bike is the Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS in the middle. I hate it with every fiber of my being and I'm counting down the days until I get rid of it. It does look nice however.

can't get a picture of my actual car but that's it. mine is white, manual transmission. 1998 323is.

absolutely love it. it is a bit small in the back at times though. I don't normally like white but I don't mind this car in white.

Why do you hate that car? It's a bit underpowered....but it has a ton of potential. I can't find the page right now, but this one guy built his up to run 11s, and it's his daily driver. It's freaking bad-ass.

Mainly because it's the biggest POS I've ever owned. It's a tossup between this car and a first generation DSM that I once had.

Things I've replaced in the last 10,000 miles:
Front Oxygen Sensor
Rear Oxygen Sensor
Knock Sensor (On a NA car?)
Coolant Temp Sensor
Clutch
Flywheel
Transmission
Timing Belt
Tensioner Pulleys
Waterpump
Waterpump Gasket
Tires
Brakes and Pads
Fuel Filter
Battery
Spark Plug Wires
Spark Plugs
Valve Cover Gasket
Spark Plug Gromet Gaskets
MAP Sensor
Just ordered Catalytic Convertors

Now most of those look like regular wear and tear products that need to be replaced every so often, but I'm religious about the upkeep of my car and this car barely has over 100,000 miles on it. Mind you this vehicle is bone stock except for tires, rotors, pads, plug wires and plugs.
All of this and it still has a CEL on and won't pass inspection in my state and is now past due.

All the bolts under the hood have no zinc coating or corrosion resistance and sheer off when trying to remove because they are rusted so bad.

I love the look of the GC6 Imprezas and think they are truly the best looking Imprezas. However the only way the vehicle hasn't disappointed me is while driving it in the snow.

Yes performance potential is there, but with this much of headache already I'm not about to go down that path.

Weird. With the corrosion you speak of, and all the problems, I almost wonder if this wasn't a flood damaged vehicle, or something of that sort.

Nope, while salty Upstate NY winters certainly don't help the problems it's happened to other folks as well. I'm the second owner and I'm slowly replacing everything with stainless steel grade 8 cap screws.
The CEL is such a common problem there is a huge after market for ways around it even with perfectly functioning cars such as mine. Mechanical fixes, electrical work arounds, ECU reflashes, ECU upgrades, etc...
Remember this is Subaru's Ecnobox, with the larger Legacy engine. It's not the top of the line SVX.

I'm also disappointed to hear of Subarus recent decision to stop using aluminum in all phases of their vehicles.

I've thought many times about swapping an STi spec motor and transmission in it. It's better looking IMO than the current crop and is lighter and would be cheaper on insurance. I've also thought about going crazy and using shoehorning a H6 in there. But again, I've already had some many problems I'm afraid to think how much more of a headache it would be.

You can swap an Eg33 from an SVX into one....

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...7#post12156167

Over 200 hp and ft/lb to the wheels. Would be fun...but really, it sounds like you have a lemon. I'd sell it and get something else, or realize that youv'e replaced everything already anyway.

My work/play/everything....hell this is a REAL sport/utility vehicle.

2000 GMC Sonoma SLS. Extra cab with 3rd door. 70k miles, 4.6L V-6, 4x4, heavy duty suspension (no off-road package though, kinda pointless). The racks were built by myself and my father. Tubes are aluminum and the hardware is galvanized steel. It's all bolted directly though the bed.

I've had 35 Mahogany 12' decking on the racks, 8 4x4 pressure treated posts in the bed with over 40 2x4s. I also had a couple 2x12s up on the racks, for good measure. Payload capacity is over 1300lbs (not sure what the new Tacoma can haul, but for 2000 it had the highest light truck payload). All in all a solid, smooth truck that can eek out 21 mpg.....with the wind at your back, downhill

I've also used it to pull a 1000lb concrete footing out of the ground with the front anchor points. 4x4 low gear can be very persuasive

Thanks to this ridiculously warm NE winter I haven't been able to test out the 4x4 drive as much as I had hoped....but being warm is ok too.

It's been regulated to my play/weekend car. This is going to change soon. The stock Subaru I have has been heaps more unreliable than my high modified RX-7 and will be for sale soon. Once it's gone the RX-7 will be the daily driver again.

Get a different subie. A lot of my friends have them, and almost no problems. One guy had the MAP sensor go out, and a bum injector, but that's it. You have a severe lemon. Sell it to some rich kid, and tell him how easy it is to swap in an STi drivetrain or something.

It's not all the parts replacement that bothers me as much, as it is me not being able to pass my states inspection unless I fork over an additional $600.00+ to the Subaru stealership. With the new requirements in my state I can't pass with a CEL on. Do a search on NASIOC or RS25.com and search under P0420. You'll find hundreds of threads from users. It's pretty much accepted as the norm. Which is unacceptable to me. Most people are so used to it, they just ignore it. Bone stock cars and modified cars do it. Stock cats, after market high flow cats and catless cars all get this code. As I've mentioned earlier there is a huge after market just built around this single problem. I've heard of dealers replacing cats under warranty on many of the cars. There have been O2 sensor recalls as well. All of which seem to only mask the problem for a certain amount of time.

Don't get me wrong, I do love the way the car looks and I really, really want to like it. I do really!
I've already sunk so much money into replacing everything I have a practically brand new vehicle. None of it matters because it won't pass inspection.
I've ordered a highflow cat and I'm going to try one last time to get it to pass inspection. If it doesn't work I'll sell it to a rich kid or anyone who doesn't care about the problem or doesn't have to deal with it in their state.

Sweet car, glassman. This is my favorite incarnation of the RX-7.

Yeah, I love that car to death. It's one of my favorites. I like it better than the supra... supras are... they're just so 'everywhere'. Kinda like how when we were kids, everybody likes the t-rex. Screw that. I liked the anklasaurus. It could kill Rexs with its' tail, it ate plants, and was as big as a school bus. Plus it looked cool.

You're not comparing the RX-7 to the anklasaurus, are you?
