People are talking about the next G5 revision. The general consensus is that like cars, new model Macs can have problems that don't arise in testing. In addition, new features are always added and the machine gets faster.
Basically, you take slightly more risk with a new model than with an old one. Especially with a new case styling. However, these problems are usually minor, if at all. I would say go for it, I have never had a problem with a new model Mac. Others would disagree.
In the end though, if I had the money, I would buy a G5 now and not wait for Revision B. Congratulations on your order!

Yeah, this first group of G5 systems represents a discontinuity with older models, so there's bound to be a few issues. That's not going to stop me, either.

Is this a good place for an argument?

And the OS is gonna be updated soon too from 10.2.7 (your model) to 10.3.1 - you should see further performace gains with the new OS, codenamed Panther (the current OS is codenamed Jaguar). HTH.

Welcome to the club. It'll be an awesome machine. There are a few folks that think they'll have better luck with the next version of the G5. It'll be out in about a year, and may contain a 3GHz chip. Steve Jobs said that the G5 chip should be at 3GHz within 12 months, but who knows when it'll ship.
The new OS is supposed to be released fairly soon, but by almost all accounts by the end of this year. It will take your G5 from 10.2.7 to 10.3. Should be a pretty comprehensive release, offering bunches of new functionality.
Again welcome, and congrats on the purchase.

And the trend doesn't always follow that progression. I had the first model Dual USB iBook that was flawless. Sold it to a friend and it's still in use today. I replaced it with an iBook 800 (third revision of iBook?) and it's been back to Apple twice b/c of failed video. I personally think it's a crap shoot either way...

If it turns out that the first G5s have some problems, you can insure yourself with AppleCare, which you can buy within the first year of use.
