I have found that when i lower the Macbook screen brightness to half, my Macbook runs 15 degress cooler. Before people start saying its not true, you should try it for yourself.

Does nothing, besides the temperature is eminating from the bottom of the case where the cpu resides. the brightness is on the lcd so it makes absolutely no sense why the brightness will lower the temps.
Perhaps the day that your mb was running cooler, the ambient temperature as cooler?

Nothing here. Anyway, why should it? There's no reason whatsoever screen brightness should have an influence on bottom case temp.

I was messing around with my brightness control the other day and noticed that it ran cooler. I was going to post about it but forgot about it until I read this thread.

No effect, even if I turn of the screen and only use the 23" my MacBook has a tendency to find an equilibrium around 67º celsius (153F), that's where the whining noise comes in, it's the temperature where the fan starts up

After 18 years of MS-DOS and Windows working very happy on Mac, now on a 15" MacBook Pro 2.2 Ghz - 2Gb memory - 200 Gb HD with a 20 and 23" screen. I've been waiting for the iPhone for quite a while, let's role it out in Europe. Just one wish left for now: a light mac (2-3 pounds) with 8 hours of working time. They can do it... :-)

Hey ben about the the black macbook flaking, come on there are pictures all over the Internet, and if you want more evidence go to the Apple store. The temperature drop is true, many people have experience the same has me, just ask dmachine33. So please stop trying to accuse my of a liar.

Actually, I've seen exactly two. Considering that already thousands of MBs have been produced and sold, I'd say 2 is chicken sh!t.

So in your book 'many people' is equal to one?
Common, time for a reality check.

You type worse than the spam e-mail I get. But for every single person who says the Blackbook flakes, 30 people say "No you're wrong". Kind of like for every person that claims lowering the brightness on your display lowers temp at least 10 people will reply "No you're wrong".

The only errors in his typing were the periods after the quotes. Typically the period goes inside. Your posts, however, were quite full of errors. I stopped calling people 'gay' as an insult when I was 12. I suggest you do the same.
