With all the people getting their 17"s today, where are all the promised pictures and even video I heard about? Posted or not, no big deal.

Seems blase at this point.

But I'm pretty handy with a digital camera, so here is a link to show off the backlighting:

Sorry to go off topic, but what made the backlighting look blue in Apple's pictures and videos?

What I think it was... was the screen background and the darkness of the area blended, but maybe it was just intended to be blue before...

Just speculation on my part.

Nice photos, now I am even more stoked until mine arrives. Thanks!

Everyone knows that that little Apple movie on their website where the lights are blue was actually a 3D model, not an actual picture?

I went in search of the picture you are talking about and found it here:

http://www.apple.com/powerbook/index17.html

The picture shows white letters on the keys, but the edges of the keys do look blue and when you watch the movie the letters are still white but as you watch it they gain a blue hue. It appears to be caused by the resolution of the video and some color bleeding over.

I took my 17" PB into a dark room and the keys are clearly white with no blue hue around the edges. However, I did notice that with the standard blue desktop in OS X it does cast a blue light over the keyboard. I can see where a digital camera/video could capture this inadverdently, so therefore...

I think the blue tinge is just a result of the video and picture quality.

I walked across the street from my job into the Ft Lauderdale Macintosh Center and saw the 17" for the first time. It looked perfect, not one damaged pixel or aberration on the trackpad. Naturally I asked the guy could he sell the demo, but he said no way.
I closed the lid and notice how effortlessly it moved, yet stayed where you put it, unlike my old 667 DVI Ti. That is one honkin big screen, but I mean it in a nice way. In short, it looked to me like a functional work of art.

Until we get a 3 lbs sub-PowerBook, the 12-inch PowerBook will do.
