On my Mac LC I have an old version of Monopoly on it. It's great. You can have up to 8 players and it actually follows the rules. The computer AI is also very smart when you set it to advanced. I love it.

However, I can't find a good version of Monopoly for a modern OS. Every version I've tried from OS X to Windows to iOS not only has these god damn annoying animations that you can't turn off or even skip (though the iOS version you can "fast forward"), but they even get the damn rules wrong.

You're supposed to be able to to buy, sell, or trade houses and hotels between turns (but not between rolls.) Every modern computer version I've played has this wrong. They don't allow you to buy and sell houses except on your turn. This affects the strategy of the game immensely.

My other gripe is that all the modern versions of the game limit the total number of players to 4. I want 6 players.

The AI is also really, really, stupid. It only calculates value of the property when making trades, not its potential worth. Even my old LC version knows not to trade cash for a monopoly.

Anyway, just complaining.

Do any of them do the part where if you don't want a property you land on, it gets auctioned off to the other players?

All the versions I've played do the auctioning. I just want one that actually follows the rules of the game.

I hear ya. I was only asking because that's a rule in the book no one uses. I've played in a total of two games that did.

I'd like to see someone make an online, cross platform, Tournament Monopoly game.
